Estate: Higgin Art Glass Platter

Last weekend went to the estate of a West Point Grad (tons in my area.) The house was mostly Oriental & French Provincial-not my taste beside everything was the usual overpriced. Wasn't much in the house but perhaps this planted modern number? Huge 17 inch diameter "Purple Fused Glass Platter" by Chicago artists, Micheal & Frances Higgins. Circa 1950-60's. Gold "Higgin" signature on bottom.

Bought three tea towels but didn't purchase the platter because of it's rather hefty price. "Dressing for Salad" Tea Towel by Lois Lang (1918-2005) a 1950-60's artist & textile designer. Circa 1960's. Signed Lois Long. 1972 German Jig Calendar Tea Towel for Dunja. And she was born in 1972, too funny. Plus a "Brussels" Calendar Tea Towel, signed "E. Sykes" & "Handprint." Both freshly laundered. Went home & mulled over the plate. Returned the following morning to find the plate was 25% off. So I made the decision to purchase it with the intention of selling it.
