Thrift - Dear Orientals & China People

Oh and I found this racist ass card too. Appears to be 1960s. Those were the days -- Archie Bunker

Thrift - Snoopy Bowl But Where Is the Dog?

With the Christmas rush over one can finally update the blog. Went to my three local thrifts this morning and only found something at my fave. Oh at the old biddie store found this free blue Keyes tray all beat to hell. Maybe it'll wash up a bit?

Two vintage games from 1968. The Funny Bones card game is some sort weird swingers game, well maybe. Older blue mint tin. These Houze glass trays are stalking me. Seeing them everywhere and I love em!

Got the snoopy bowl my sis wanted me to pick-up unfortunately the blue one was cracked. And last five German fretwork Christmas ornaments to add to my three from last year.

Why I Will NEVER Live Farther South Or In Some Hick Podunk Town

It never fails when I go to some small podunk town that I'm harassed by the local racist white trash. This time, it was Leesburg where some old toothless hillbilly lady tried to inform me of pedestrian law whilst she narrowly missed running down a mother and toddler. Hope she liked my finger.

At two antique shops found a Dansk cutting board and a glittered egg shell ornament for the mother-in-law. I don't know if it's from a kit or made in eastern Europe or somewhere else.

Further on in Frederick, I picked up the orange pedestal at the same stall were I found the Bitossi vase. It still has the original Raymor label identifying it as Bitossi. At another booth my sis made me get the bright orange apple planter probably German (or B.P.F. Heffen Belgium) SOLD. Glad she made me get it 'cause its cute. Found a large unmarked iittala glass bowl but it was chipped.

Thrift - Dansk

Found at fave thrift an older Dansk teak salad bowl, Christmas stuffed hot dog and a Far Side mug that the sis found.

Antique Mall Visit - CathrineHolm Bowl

My mom spotted this red lotus Cathrineholm bowl that was tagged "Danish Enamel Bowl" at an antique mall and how could I resist? Some old knotty brown bag my sis wanted and a cute little stamped leather belt for her too.

Down the street at another mall picked up a matched pair of wood painted Buckingham Palace Guards made in Yugoslavia. And a trio of OMC head nodders. We ran out of time before I could buy more junk.

Secret Santa

Opened my Secret Santa gift today. Inside I found a McCoy nymph vase (thanks Steve for the ID) a Bialetti espresso maker from 1975 with very interesting literature inside, a cute little table cloth and apron both being laundered at the moment.  Espresso is my dirty little dangerous addition. Thanks Secret Santa.

Road Trip - Erik Hoglund

Took a road trip to our favorite restaurant with hubby, sis and Amy. Along the way we stopped at many antique stores. Found these Erik Hoglund decanters designed for Neiman Marcus. A Pop Art  Peter Max style airplane silk scarf. Four little pine cone angels that I sat on in the car.

Also found this unmarked German candle windmill. It's unlike any I've seen and stands on tripod stick legs - if you have any info please let me know. And two super cute signed hankies.

Dinner was excellent. Ate so much I gave myself a stomachache.

Christmas To Me

Sorry, I haven't put up any new posts. My sister is visiting from Dublin and in addition to Christmas I just haven't had time. I did manage to but myself a Christmas gift from MidModMom a red Guzzini Italy caddy and Anemome Arabia sugar and creamer (to go with my teapot and cups). The Swiss tea towel is for my sister which she thinks is so adorable that she's decided to hang it instead of using it and I don't blame her.

Major Score! Bitossi Vase

Went antiquing with my mom and sis and purchased this Raymor vase because I liked it (even though mom tried to talk me out of it) and orange is my favorite color. Plus, I never find Raymor Italy pieces in perfect condition. Mom talked them down and got me a great price on it. There was a pedestal piece that I didn't get and regretted afterwards but that's a later post.

Upon arriving home I realized the sticker was marked "BIT" for Bitossi of Italy. Supposedly the vase is the "Rocchetto" line by the great Ettore Sottsass' (Memphis Movement, Italy) Circa 1956-9. So I did some Ebay searches and holy moly! You can see the prices below. Plus a little Japan ornament.

[www. artfact.com From the design series "Rocchetto", 1956-59. Manufactured by Bitossi, Montelupo Fiorentino, Italy for Raymor (Richard Morgenthau & Co.), New York. Sand colored stoneware, circulating in differently broad horizontal strips multicolor matte and shining glazed, among other things with opaque white craquelling glaze and lava-like matte glaze. Ground marked: 1390 A, ITALY (black glaze, painted), original sales label of the company Raymor 'MODERN in the TRADITION of GOOD TASTE raymor' with number 2619, BIT (abbreviation for Bitossi).]

Thrift - Germany Wedding Party

Sorry, everyone been busy since fall and have fallen behind with post, hopefully I'll catch up. Went to the old biddies thrift and the Christmas goods were cleared out-it was crazy! One of the volunteers said everything sold the day before, in fact they had done 60% more business than the year previous. The secret is out!

Paid a lot for this German wedding party dated 1984 but it was to cute to resist. SOLD. Maybe these could be used as cake toppers or for cupcakes? A smaller set had been sold yesterday, I was pissed that I missed it. The vintage flat folding red sled that good for holding knee hugger elves or Santa and crew. Found one earlier but it had been thrift store broken.

Antiquing - Gemma Taccogna

Looking for Christmas ornaments for me so it was time to visit an antique mall. I picked up this pin cushion paper mache head because I thought it was Gemma Taccogna but the base is simply signed Mexico. Perhaps it's one of her students. If you have any info please let me know.

A porcelain modernist white horse with teak pick mane made in Japan. Someone mentioned to me that they thought the designer might be Italian again if you have any info let me know. The most darling tiny deer and angel (made in Italy) there was a pair but the other deer had foot damage. SOLD. Little German birthday ornament that might be pre-war Germany. And a german hoop ornament of Danish Royal guards SOLD.

Thrift Score - Lisa Larson Cat

After the antique mall hit a few thrift stores but didn't score until the last one. And there it was sitting on a cat shelf this turdy little brown "Lila" beauty by Lisa Larson. SOLD. Honestly if I found Lisa Larson frequently I'd collect them but I'm at one per year.

Love bright red Waechtersbach German mugs and I do well selling them. SOLD.

Here are the rest of the finds, they aren't exciting. Houze Art atomic lion birthday plate, made in USA, 1960s. Two bright orange tangerine trivets in perfect shape that would look great in a mod kitchen or as a pop of color on any dark surface. A little wood Russian doll. And a House tin 'cause I have a problem with tins too. Yep, after finding the Lisa Larson cat I couldn't complain about the rest of the day.

Vosges

Order these lovelies from Vosges Chocolates based in Chicago. My hubby gave me Exotic Truffles for Valentines. We enjoyed the Wink of the Rabbit so much I decided to buy a box. They tasted nothing like the ones from Valentines. Rock hard, tasteless and barely covered in chocolate plus half of them were crushed. Such a disappointment for $29.

Surprisingly, I absolutely loved the Caramel Marshmallows and I will be getting more, hee hee.

The Peanut Butter Bonbons were very good by I probably wouldn't spend $22 for nine again. Except inside they were all flattened and the salt had fallen off.

Thrift - My Love Affair With Bodum

Huh, Christmas stuff out already and soooo much crappy Target and Walmart.

My unnatural relationship with Bodum continues but how can one resist a red and glass teapot? A first Zanesville Stoneware Modern pot that is free of damage (actually I saw a huge floor one at the thrift a few weeks ago but forgot about it and when I went back it was gone, of course). Red enamel teapot SOLD. A pre-Nittany lion logo mug signed Kush, made in USA SOLD. Sorry nothing exciting.

Estate - George Nelson Swag Desk & Chair

I'm really lame and lazy! Very late, last night saw this pic online. In fact, looked at it more than once before I noticed the George Nelson desk, the photo is so bad that I wonder if anyone else noticed? It's the Swag desk and chair manufactured by Herman Miller. Believe that to be a Tizio desk lamp produced by the Italian firm Artemide. Rather liked the leather couch too.

Anyway couldn't convince myself to leave at the crack of dawn to avoid commuter traffic, drive 30 minutes to stand in line for 2 hours before doors opened at 10am. Well, I'll regret this later, I'm sure.

Thrift - Kobenstyle

After I skipped out on a probable epic estate sale decided to hit up a couple of thrift stores after lunch.

Bust at the old biddy store. At my fave found yellow Kobenstyle butter warmer overpriced cause it's a double whammy; vintage and Dansk! First time I've found Kobenstyle at a thrift in almost 2 years? Has a burned handle as well, hopefully it will sell. SOLD

Otagiri stoneware sea lion mug signed Wendy Morgan. Set of colorful tin coasters. SOLD

And a rocking horse (I had this same one as a kid) marked 1968 on the bottom would look nice in a baby nursery.

At GWill passed on a pair of lotus bowls as they don't sell and I didn't want to stand in line. Passed on a cheese board (similar to the one below) that was quite scratched missing a glass dome and overpriced. Passed on a "Fred and Friends" $3 creamer since I already have one and I couldn't think of anyone who wanted one.

Thrift - Hipster Dipster

Stopped by a couple of thrift near mom's. Boy, they were packed with youngsters and hipsters! Picked up this little paper mache lipstick holder lady SOLD. She has wear but reminded me of the french paper mache heads and the Mexican artist Gemma Taccogna. A pair of endangered species whale glasses. We have a growing collection that we use for whiskey and such. Picked a nautical scarf but forgot to take a photo of it.

My Little Love, R. Kelly

Peek-a-boo
Kiss me!

Bye now

Cupcakes!!!

My hubby came home with Lemon Coconut cupcakes!

Estate: Catherineholm Fail

Oh my, look at that lovely sight! Somehow I missed seeing this in the ads? My mom thought she'd surprise me with these for Christmas. A sweet sentiment but I wish she'd told me 'cause I would have told her showing up half an hour before the sale was not early enough. Heck, I would have even gone early to that sale and I NEVER go early!

So the guy first in line got the set and a scuffle ensued because a lady grabbed half of the bowls (Hi Canince - Sorry you weren't able to snag em, the guy sounds like a real douche-bag). I don't know how that happened unless they both ran in the door at the same time? Mom said the bowl set went for $120. He also got the rest of the Catherineholm pieces. The aqua Kobenstyles were overpriced at 60 bucks each. Oh well, I'm sure there will never be a next time, hahaha, sadness.

What mom did manage to grab a expensive Dansk staved teak ice bucket designed by Jens Quistgaard. She said people followed her around after she found the bucket (ha ha one of them was Canice  : P )

At another estate sale she found a Kaj Franck Arabia pitcher. The Gorhams owls music box SOLD and wood box are from previous sales.
