Estate: Mod Dress

Here is my dear friend being a very good sport in 95+ degree weather and posing in a vintage 1970's dress. Picked this dress for my sister at an estate sale nearby. Bought a ton of clothes & paid way too much for tacky polyester wear. Everything had to be hand laundered, my poor mom! This dress was one of the few decent pieces.

Estate: Wall Unit & Walnut Lamp

"Uldum Mobelfabrik 7171"

This was the estate of a builder. The husband had modern taste the wife did not so all the cool stuff was in his office! Went with my mom on the first day - wasn't too crowded. Saw a fantastic pair of mint condition chrome scissors lamps, ones that come off the wall. $30 for both & I balked! Looked them up at more and they were 1970's designer around $500 each! I'll see if I can find a reference photo to post. I did buy a danish teak captain's dining chair. Very sturdy & just needed oiling.

Returned on the last day when everything was 50% off. Since I purchased so many things the sellers gave me more than 50% off. I bought a huge 3 bay wall unit of not great quality (two bays shown above.) Paid to much for it. Was one I should have run away from. For some reason I'm drawn to wall units but they are difficult for me to sell. This one took ages to get rid of & it was bid down really low. SOLD

Also got 2 Italian marble lamps. One has a chip & needs repair (photo to come.) Pair brass bookends (photo to come)

1960's Wire LP/Table which I have since donated.

Sold a 1960's Walnut Lamp & Table & Molded Magazine Rack. Linen shade included. Water rings to table top. SOLD

Sold: Koford Teak Credenza

Koford Teak Credenza
Made in Denmark. Sold Feb. 2010. Sellers remorse. Paid a lot for this at an auction.

Sold: Randers Wall Unit

"Hanging Wall Cabinet" 1960's Randers of Denmark
On occasion I sell furniture. Here is a piece I bought at auction for $30 (with the Koford credenza) & later sold. for I think $130. Thought my husband could display his Civil War relics. Turned out it wasn't quite what he was looking for so I put it up on CraigsList. It went home with a college student. I have buyers remorse. Probably part of a larger wall unit. SOLD

Estate: MoMA Corn Cob Holders

Picked these up at a nearby estate sale. The womans house was full of kitchenware! She had five of the same thing. She must have had 50 wooden spoons. 1961 corn cob holders giving me the finger. Set of 8 signed C. Hugo Pott, Solingen Germany. Chrome and nickel-plated steel. Found out they are in the MoMA Collection. Germans make scary looking things. The set of 8 sells new for $110.

I also picked up two "Butterprint" Pyrex dishes. One missing lid. And some German glass tea glasses.

Sold: Plycraft Lounge Chair with Ottoman

Plycraft Lounge Chair with Ottoman
George Mulhauser designed this American made walnut veneer molded plywood lounger. Foil label dated 1965. Bought for $36. Sold Sept. 2009. Bought this lounger along with the Adrian Pearsall dining set of the best estate sales I've ever been too. There was so much stuff I didn't get & I wish I had. Two modern globe chandeliers, two sellers cabinets with matching tables & chairs, pair Dansk iron star candle holders, thin taper candles, vintage yellow clock, brass wall spotlight, ect.

1950-60's three section bright yellow cabinets with interesting chrome pulls. Had the coolest chromed loop handles. Note to self - don't buy old cabinets. Think I made 15 bucks for lugging these on my back, cleaning them, & all other costs. I think, it sold quickly because it was listed on Apartment Therapy. In some guys garage now.
